What Recovery Means to Us—And Why It’s Deeply Personal
At JA Recovery, the word “recovery” isn’t just part of our name—it’s part of who we are. For us, recovery isn’t a buzzword or a box to check. It’s a way of life. It’s a daily practice. And it’s personal.
Our founder, John Adams, knows this journey firsthand. His path—from patient to volunteer, to treatment professional, and now to leading a team of compassionate recovery experts—shapes everything we do. He built JA Recovery to fill the gaps he saw in the behavioral health system and to meet people where they are. He saw a need to not only support individuals discerning a treatment path, but also to support families through what can feel like impossible decisions.
“Recovery for me means not only being drug and alcohol free, but living a life that is peaceful, honest, kind, unselfish, and productive,” John said. “I also realize recovery can mean different things to different people. We’re all recovering from something.”
That philosophy is at the heart of our approach. Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. For some, it begins in treatment. For others, it starts with an honest conversation or a willingness to try something different. What matters most is not where you start—but that you’re willing to begin.
At JA Recovery, we value honesty, accountability, consistency, and connection. Whether we’re guiding a family through an intervention or walking alongside a client in coaching, we believe in building trust through real relationships. We focus on what’s practical, what’s personal, and what’s possible—one day at a time.
We also know recovery isn’t just for the person struggling. Families are impacted deeply—and families heal, too. That’s why we provide support not just for individuals, but for the people who love them.
“It does not have to be like this,” John says. “Things will get better.”
That’s our hope—and our promise. Recovery is possible. And when you’re ready, we’re here.
